Rural Adventures in Chianti
Saturday 24 and Sunday, September 25, 2016 you will have the opportunity to live a unique experience in the lands of the old Chianti with curtains and off-road, to get to know the work of breeders and keepers of ancient farmers breeds and varieties of fruit and vegetablesAfter the successful first edition of Rural Festival Tuscany, in Gaiole in Chianti (Siena) last Saturday and Sunday, a festival dedicated to the agricultural and rural biodiversity of the Apennines in its third edition in Rivalta di Lesignano De ‘Bagni (Parma), the “Rural” project goes ahead. For the weekend of 24 and 25 September 2016 for example it is planning “Rural Adventure”, a hike in the historic Chianti lands to get to know the work of those breeders and growers and custodians of ancient breeds and varieties of fruit and vegetables belonging to “Rural “, using off-road vehicles for longer trips and stopping in a bivouac for the night, which will be equipped with tents.
A territory, the Chianti, the characteristics of the climate and soil made him famous as a suitable area for the production of high quality wines, already known from the eighteenth century. The agricultural landscape of Chianti is characterized by rows of vines alternate with olive groves and it is in these pleasant areas that will develop the course of the weekend accompanied by an expert guide through nature, history, knowledge and flavors of the past, now kept by passionate producers. ToscanagalloIl meeting is scheduled for Saturday at 10.30 in front of the Info Point in Gaiole in Chianti, the famous market place already in the middle of the thirteenth century, for a presentation briefing of “Rural” project. 
At 11 departure for the excursion that will lead to the fortified medieval village of Vertine: Here we will stop for lunch (km. 6.5) and continue through vineyards and olive trees with a 4×4 Defender coming to the castle of Meleto for a visit. So wine tasting Sangioveto pure company “Rudolph The Forge” will be followed by the visit of the Black Valdarno chicken breeding of Cantalici family. It will then continue on foot to reach the breeding of Cinta Senese (km. 4), and will install the bivouac for the night in tents (with double or single) in the locality Mello. 19.30 Dinner at the “Rural Base Camp Tent” and briefing for the following day. At 22 night hike with head lamp and positioning of camera traps to capture images of the local fauna. Sunday breakfast at 8 and dismantling tents, starting at 11 walk with steps on the ridge of the Chianti mountains and then reach the medieval fortress of Montegrossi with a stop for lunch at the Abbey of Coltibuono (9.5 km). Then visit the abbey and the old wine cellars of the monks of Vallombrosa with tasting of wines of the products with native vines of Chianti and transfer by 4×4 Defender woods and vineyards to Radda in Chianti to visit in the historical center of the country the cellar maturation of the Cinta Senese hams. Return to Gaiole in Chianti in the afternoon. Package price: 250 € per person (minimum 4 people).
